Nearly 10% of the world's population lives with a disability. P. Mahoney's daughter is one of them: "My daughter has Aspergers syndrome, anxiety, and coordination issues." Without the help of volunteers at Rose of Sharon, she wouldn't have learned to "follow directions, care for another living being, or be respectful of others."
Help Out the Disabled in Your Community
Triad Construction Inc. has helped fund walkaids and bicycles for disabled children who otherwise wouldn't be able to walk or ride a bike. "It was so great and heartwarming to see the smile on the young boy's face that we were able to help out earlier this year as well as the deep gratitude that the parents had for the help they received to make their sons life just a little easier."

Background
Nearly 50 million Americans are disabled, and two-thirds of these individuals are affected by a severe disability. Of those 50 million, only 18 million are employed.
Being disabled can include anything from a mental handicap to a physical handicap, and affects both the individual and their family. Individuals with physical and mental impairments often need assistance from others to be able to live an active life. Since families and friends aren't always around, it's important that organizations exist to help the disabled with their every day needs.
